Here are a couple of my sketchbook pages from this workshop, whilst this activity i drew some close ups of the chair covered in glue and cloth, i thought you were quite abstract and could maybe get some good design ideas out of them!
Lesson 4. Today we had a workshop using cling film, glue, mutton cloth and any nylon tights we could get. we started off by choosing a couple of chairs we liked so we had 3!
we started by wrapping the chairs in cling film to protect them from getting ruined and also to give us a shape to work from. we then started ripping the materials we had, stretching them over the chairs and tieing them anywhere we felt necessary we had to try and cover most of the chair to create a sculpture. we then mixed up some glue with water,(1 part pva, 2 part water) so it wasnt so sticky and would dry quicker. we covered the whole thing in the glue using rollers and our hands!! we then waited for it to dry, this took a while and still wasnt dry at the end of the day. the plan for when it is dry is to cut the model off and place it in different ways onto the mannequin quite like when we did the paper excersice and try and find ways we could create a garment out of what we have.
