Explore materials: Skirt 2

 Skirt 2
How well did it work as a garment?
I felt it worked quite well, i think this is definetly the best garment i have made so far and feel i am improving more as i go along.
Is it fashion? if so why? if not why not?
I would say it is fashion i think the fabric that it was made in gives a real 60's feel. i had a few people saying they would actually go out and wear it so to me that says that it was successful if someone is willing to wear it!
What opening did you use?
I used a zip once again, but i feel the more i put zips in the better i am getting at putting them in and feel more confident about using them. also this time i figured out howe to change the foot on my sewing machine and used a zip foot which obviously made it 10x easier!
What were the problems?
1. I would say the main problem was the fabric it was nice to work with but it frayed so much! everytime i cut it it literally fell apart and when i did a seam to close to the edge the stitches would just fray out and it would come undone.
2. I also chose not to use a pattern this time round so made it all to the mannequin so my problem there was that when i was making i did not know what size i was making it so it had not darts if it needed to be tighter around the hips, but i felt it was more exciting to see how it would turn out!
What could you do to improve next time?
next time i would definetly do a couple of tester sewing samples to see what the fabric is like to sew and use. i would also leave more seam allowance so that if it did fray the stitches would hold together.
